All members of the current Autism team have completed a graduate-level course at
Illinois State University through the Autism Spectrum Center. The course
included the characteristics of individuals on the Autism Spectrum,
communication needs, behavioral principles, sensory needs, a variety of
evidence-based methodologies, and assistive technology. The majority of the team
has also attended a five-day training in the TEACCH methodology. Each member of
the team has experience in providing instruction and support to individuals on
the autism spectrum. The team provides a variety of services to the eleven
school district members of RCCSEC. These include observations, consultations and
training for school personnel and parents.
